About Us

At Tomintoul and Glenlivet Youth Club (SCIO), we are passionate about providing a safe, positive, and inspiring environment where local young people can connect, grow, and build lasting friendships. As an officially registered Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation (SCIO), we are entirely dedicated to supporting the vibrant youth community across the Tomintoul and Glenlivet area.

Our Purpose & Vision

Our club is built on the foundation of Fun & Friendship, driven by a core mission to help our members Play, Learn, and Grow. We fulfill this through several key goals:

  • Community & Connection: Establishing a vibrant local hub that offers a wide range of exciting projects and physical activities tailored specifically for our young people.
  • Personal Growth: Providing opportunities for personal and social development through structured team-based activities, local social enterprise, and volunteering projects that give back to our community.
  • Youth-Led Future: Giving our members a real voice by establishing a dedicated Youth Committee to help make strategic decisions about the vision and direction of the club.
  • A Safe Space: Ensuring an inclusive, welcoming, and safe environment where young people can socialise away from negative outside pressures, fully supported by trained Youth Workers.
  • Sport & Recreation: Advancing public participation in sports, outdoor activities, and recreational events to promote healthy, active lifestyles.

How We Run the Charity

Our organization relies on a transparent, community-first structure consisting of three vital parts:

  • Charity Members

These are completely different to those who want to just come along and attend our sessions. Membership of the charity is entirely free and is open to anyone in our community who wants to support the youth club. We offer two pathways to get involved:

    1. Junior Membership: Open to anyone under the age of 16 (requires parent/guardian counter-signature).
    2. Full Membership: Open to residents aged 16 or over. Full members hold voting rights at our general meetings and help elect the individuals who manage the charity.

Don’t worrythere’s no expectation that the young people who come along to our sessions have to become members of the charity, or their parents/carers- but we’d welcome anyone who wants to.

  • The Board (Charity Trustees).

Our club is governed and financially managed by a dedicated Board of Charity Trustees. To ensure we stay grounded in what matters most, the vast majority of our Trustees are elected directly from our local community.

  • Office bearers.

Drawn from our trustees, our office bearers handle most of the day to day administration of the club.

We operate strictly under a comprehensive Child Protection Policy and standard Scottish charity guidelines to maintain the highest levels of safety and care for your family.

Driven by Our Values

We believe that every young person deserves an equal opportunity to thrive. No individual will ever be restricted, withheld from membership, or excluded from our activities on the basis of gender, age, ethnic background, disability, sexual orientation, or religious belief. We are here for all young people in Tomintoul and Glenlivet.
